LIDC Congress 2026 in Bucharest

We are delighted to invite you to the next LIDC Congress, which will take place in Bucharest, Romania, from 15 to 18 October 2026.

The Congress is expected to bring together approximately 250 LIDC members from around 25 countries, along with some 20 international speakers, including representatives of the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Commission, EUIPO, as well as national competition and intellectual property authorities.

The scientific programme will be structured into four panels dedicated to competition law, four panels dedicated to intellectual property, and one joint panel. The working sessions will focus on the following debate topics:

Question A: “To what extent and in what way have the negotiated procedures (leniency, commitments, settlements and, where applicable, consent decrees) improved the effectiveness of Antitrust Law without unduly conflicting with fundamental principles such as the rights of defense and confidentiality?”

International Rapporteur: Prof. Dr. Eckart Bueren

Question B: “To what extent does intellectual property law recognize the evolving concept of “art,” including in the context of AI-assisted creation, and how does this shape the limits between the different types of Intellectual Property Rights and their role in enabling innovation, investment and the monetization of creative outputs?”

International Rapporteur: Professor Justine Pila (University of Oxford)

We kindly invite you to save the date and very much look forward to welcoming you in Bucharest.
